The Exam

fuckyeahmath:

The setting is Ohio State University about six or seven years ago in a huge lecture hall (approximately 1000 students) for a Calculus final.

Apparently this particular calculus teacher wasn’t very well liked. He was one of those guys who would stand at the front of the class and yell out how much time was remaining before the end of a test, a real charmer. Since he was so busy gallivanting around the room making sure that nobody cheated and that everyone was aware of how much time they had left before their failure on the test was complete, he had the
students stack the completed tests on the huge podium at the front of the room. This made for quite a mess, remember there were 1000 students in the class.

Anyway, during this particular final, one guy entered the test needing a decent grade to pass the class. His only problem with Calculus was that he did poorly when rushed, and this guy standing in the front of the room barking out how much time was left before the tests had to be handed in didn’t help him at all. He figured he wanted to assure himself of a good grade, so he hardly flinched when the professor said “pencils down and submit your scantron sheets and work to piles at the front of the room”.

Five minutes turned into ten, ten into twenty, twenty into forty … almost an hour after the test was “officially over”, our friend finally put down his pencil, gathered up his work, and headed to the front of the hall to submit his final. The whole time, the professor sat at the front of the room, strangely waiting for the student to complete his exam.

“What do you think you’re doing?” the professor asked as the student stood in front of him about to put down his exam on one of the neatly stacked piles of exams (the professor had plenty of time to stack the mountain of papers while he waited) It was clear that the professor had waited only to give the student a hard time.

“Turning in my exam,” retorted the student confidently. “I’m afraid I have some bad news for you,” the professor gloated, “Your exam is an hour late. You’ve FAILED it and, consequently, I’ll see you next term when you repeat my course.”

The student smiled slyly and asked the professor “Do you know who I am?”

“What?” replied the professor gruffly, annoyed that the student showed no sign of emotion.

The student rephrased the question mockingly, “Do you know what my name is?”

    “NO”, snarled the professor.

The student looked the professor dead in the eyes and said slowly, “I didn’t think so”, as he lifted up one of the stacks half way, shoved his test neatly into the center of the stack, let the stack fall burying his test in the middle, turned around, and walked casually out of the huge lecture hall.

It has been four months since I've seen My Favorite Highway.

I’m not really complaining because I’ve gone far longer without. It just semi-blows considering how great the last tour they were on was, and if things had worked out better they would have been here this fall. Also the major-label release has been out for more than half a year and I really thought they’d have a hit single, or be all over a huge ad campaign, or at least just be bigger. Their fanbase has grown exponentially, but things are just moving to slow for me. They are the one radio band I can truly get behind and I’m just way too anxious for their immense success to be here already.

In other news, I’ve got my math final on Saturday. Yes, apparently it’s legal to have finals on Saturday. Super nervous!

Yeah, saving for Bamboozle is justifiable. However, I still <3 WTK, even if their shows are repetetive… I’m hoping that’s going to change with the new album out now.

bluh. i didnt like them much at warped. maybe that was just because they butchered the guitar solo in The Middle (and pm the whole song), though. they were okay at the tweet up. but i have a feeling ill be sick of them after jbb.

At Warped for the whole set Travis’s amps weren’t working or something. Either way, even though he was playing you couldn’t hear his guitar… which would kind of change a lot. But I think they’re better playing clubs than festivals anyway.

this better come to NC. Mayday Parade and There For Tomorrow again? yes please. don’t really care about WTK.

If they’re going to Portland on the 23rd, that means they HAVE to come to Seattle on the 24th. I would like to go to this.

It’ll either be the 22nd or the 24th. No way a tour would play Portland without playing Seattle.

My head only fits in child sized beanies

I really want a beanie with some sort of animal running across it, but I’ve only found one and it was for a dude. It definitely went past my chin, boo small head!

Don’t style experts always say your outside should reflect your insides? I have a huge ego, I should have at least a normal sized head! I cannot even find earmuffs that fit. BTW ears get super cold when walking for 20ish minutes to class at 8 am, boo ear frost!

In semi earmuff related news, I went to Burberry to check out the sale (wanted earmuffs) and my favorite salesman Tyler (who is a jr at the UW) was working and he said he might give me one of those cool giant red ornaments they have hanging in their display, stoked!

Also, totally random, but had I gone to LA yesterday to see MFH today I could’ve also seen VE acoustic tomorrow. Ugh, fail school life getting in the way. I def can’t go see MFH when they play DC or Vienna either. They better come here before like… April.

In conclusion: if you see a child beanie with animals going across it then please let me know where said beanie is so I can make purchase.

I always get really nostalgic this time of the year; I miss this dearly. I miss Andy being in MFH(!!!) and I miss TML in general, but also back in the day when they were all normal and lovely souls.
