5/5/13: This off-season, members of Yoenis Cespedes’ family - including his mom - traveled safely to Florida after defecting from Cuba over a year ago. This weekend they made the 20-hour drive to New York to see the A’s play the Yankees. In the top of the 5th, Cespedes hit a two-run blast into the A’s bullpen, giving the A’s a 4-1 lead. Naturally, he looked to his family for approval, and got an enthusiastic thumbs up from his mom, Estela, making for one of the most adorable moments of the season so far. (x)

After 6 hours and 32 minutes of baseball, which broke game time records for both teams, Brandon Moss hits his second home run of the game: a two-run shot to right field that gave the A’s the 10-8 walk-off victory over the Angels after 19 dramatic innings. (x)
